So, Who is Rachel Morrison?

The person behind the podcasts...

I'm Rachel Morrison (Rach), a 33 year old living in Melbourne with my amazing partner. For as long as I remember I have always been "the creative one" with dreams as a young girl about being famous one day.

Well blasting through my childhood and youth, I burst into adulthood realising I was more likely to work FOR famous people than being THE famous person. I completed a Diploma of makeup services and started my creative journey there. Whilst studying I was promoted from my warehouse position at SUPRE to being the online Content Manager, a role created especially for me. I picked up skills in brief writing, copywriting, photoshoot coordination and website management in this role that was created to fulfill parts of the website the small team of 3 needed to manage. This is the role that brought me to Melbourne, as part of the cotton on acquisition, I was a key member in bridging the old with the new.

In Melbourne a friend asked me to be a guest on her radio show on JOY 94.9 because lord knows, I could talk. A timid, highly nervous Rachel appeared on The SpiritLounge in February of 2014, launching what can only now be described as the most influential experience of my adult life. Radio changed me, Community Radio changed me and its a love-affair that has lasted ever since. I was granted a scholarship to complete a radio training course and during my training was offered an ongoing daytime shift. I was the first person awarded a "gold star" award from Program Manager James Findlay for my impeccable on-air timing, only adding fuel to the fire of my developing passion for radio.

Outside of volunteering for many years I continued to be an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community of Melbourne, attending events and rally's and offering a hand where I could. Work-life led me mostly in salons where I was a Hairdresser and Makeup artist, working in high energy and very fast paced environments. Some of my greatest successes have been working with Australian celebrities, and regardless of whether it be as their glam squad or a radio interaction, I always leave feeling like I've made a new friend.

There's nothing "usual" about my life, recently spending six months as the creative projects manager for Chrissie Swan, getting her creative endeavors in order and off the ground, all while gaining experience in my first commercial radio station too.

If I'm not being creative in a business setting, I'm probably at home creating something, whether it be a delicious meal (ask my friends they'll confirm); Creating art; or maybe creating a human for some friends, there's almost nothing I haven't tried. I love wine, not just drinking it but the entire experience. My partner and I hope that as a retirement plan we will own our own vineyard making small batch wines on a stunning piece of land with loads of animals. All these things tied up in an amazing bow of friends, family and community - connection gives me life.

So, if this doesn't give you more of an idea about who I am, don't worry you can always ask.
